Dignity, Justice & Wellbeing through Art
Dear Friends of Open Sky,
Tomorrow, Saturday, August 8th, our For Love of Nature show will be
waiting to titillate (don't you love that word?) you from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
In fact, since our new pet tortoise Tule has been such a hit, I will bring
her in to lead gallery tours once again. (No, I am not kidding.)
Then on Monday August 10th, 6:00 pm week four of Serendipity's 7 Week Summer Jam Concert Series continues. Free concerts every Monday night in Railroad Park, Montague.
If you've attended any of the shows, then you already know how special they are.
In the lovely, shaded Railroad Park, an attentive and well dressed audience relishes the sensational band of the week and each other's company. This week features well known Eight Dollar Mountain bluegrass (can't wait :)
Open Sky will be open Before AND After each Monday night concert.
5:00 to 6:00 pm and then again 8:00 - 9:00 pm. Pop in and say hi. View our current for Love of Nature exhibit and take a peek at all the new Affordable Art pieces.
As you may know, Open Sky is an all volunteer-run nonprofit gallery and gathering place. If you know anyone who would enjoy being part of a fun, creative community of volunteers...with NO long term commitment, please REPLY to this newsletter. Maybe someone would like to host the gallery once or twice per year or perhaps helping to create the next exhibit or special event would put a smile on your face.
You get to choose. And we would love to chat with you.
The word on the street is that Montague is The Place to Be this Summer.
Check out the Calendar below for more information.
Open Sky's current For Love of Nature show is also open every
Saturday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm until Labor Day.
Then, we will re-open for weekend of Hot Air Balloon Festival
September 18, 19, 20 with three spectacular events
(one each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.)

For Love of Nature
Nine Oregon students & Four California artists explore the power of nature to heal, enliven and inspire with painting, drawing, photography & sculpture. Students reveal how daunting it is to inherit the environment in its' present state and how motivated they feel to make changes.
California artists from four points of view explore nature and environmental impacts from mining sites, private gardens, historical references and even wistful memories from prison.

Poem by Joseph Massey
Mid Summer
when deep green
falls in from
every
edge. The weight
of these sloped
fields - enfleshed.
A heartwarming poem from Mark Twain
Warm Summer Sun
Warm summer sun,
shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light:
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
For Love of Nature
Nine Oregon High School students artistically share their trauma while pondering the sad state of the environment bequeathed to them.
*** NEWSFLASH: France has now made hurting the planet illegal.
They are calling it ECOCIDE with the aim of punishing major polluters.
